Name: Min Tan
Role: VP of Sales, Northeast

Where are you from and how long have you been at Rise?

I grew up in the beautiful Penang Island, Northwestern coast of Malaysia. I moved to NYC in 1996 and have not left since. I started at Rise in August 2020.

What first drew you to Rise Buildings/tech/real estate? Or how did you get your start working in PropTech?

I started paying close attention to the Proptech industry sometime around 2017. I got to know Rise through my former employer (an integration partner of Rise) in 2018 and learned about this awesome platform during an intro call with Sam and Mel. I was so impressed after the call and knew that I had to somehow find a way to join the team. The opportunity presented itself sometime around spring of 2020. I reached out to Prasan then, and as luck would have it, the timing was perfect as he was looking for someone to expand Rise’s footprint in the Northeast.

What is your role with Rise Buildings and in what way do you support the business or Rise Buildings customers?

I head up the sales efforts in the Northeast region. My role is to grow our business in this region and help our clients manage their buildings more efficiently, save on their tech spend and increase retention rate.

What do you like about working at Rise Buildings?

Rise is a very tech-forward company and because we have a very agile product development team, we are able to deliver swiftly what our clients need. We don’t consider ourselves as just a service provider, but rather, an extension of our clients’ team.

What’s a personal passion of yours in or outside of your work?

I love exploring the world and just experiencing things that I’ve never experienced before. The last place I visited with my husband before Covid-19 was Ushuaia in Argentina. One of the highlights of the trip was getting to see penguins and sea lions in their natural habitat. It was definitely one of my most treasured travel memories.
